Custom Multi Instrument Voices Menu

This let's you make a new "custom instrument" consisting of any number of the available melodic or percussion instruments playing together

You can set them up so some of the instruments skip beats - in cycles - and so set up complex patterns if you wish - also they can play chords (for pitched instruments).

You can then select these multi instruments into any of the parts from Instruments (Ctrl + 8) or Non Melodic Percussion (Ctrl + 21)

For Menu: (drop list)

Your multi instruments will appear in this menu under "Custom"

The only difference here is which menu the multi instrument shows up in - the Melodic Instruments - or the Non Melodic percussion menu.

All the multi Instruments are identical in how they function, it doesn't matter which menu they are in. It is just a matter of convenience, easier to find.

So - if you want to, you can make a melodic custom voice and put it in the Non Melodic menu or vice versa. You can also make a Multi Instrument which is a mixture of melodic and non melodic percussion, and put it in either menu.

There's a maximum of 128 Multi Instruments for each of the menus.

Make 1st preset (button)

Makes the Flute + Oboe example multi-instrument and REMOVES ALL THE OTHERS...

If you want to clear everything including ones you have edited here yourself, use Shift + click on this button

If you want to clear ones currently in use use Ctrl + click.

Ctrl + Shift + click to erase both types in one go or to erase instruments that are in both categories i.e. in use and also edited here.

All presets (button)

Makes the preset multi-instruments menu...and REMOVES ALL THE OTHER MULTI INSTRUMENTS...

Removes any of the other example preset voices or ones you have got from files you have opened.

Leaves any that you have edited here. Also leaves any currently in use in the Parts window.

If you want to clear everything including ones you have edited here yourself, use Shift + click on this button

If you want to clear ones currently in use use Ctrl + click.

Ctrl + Shift + click to erase both types in one go or to erase instruments that are in both categories i.e. in use and also edited here.

Edit Custom Multi Instrument voice as timbre (Ctrl + 46)

For melodic instruments - lets you set up many instruments each playing at a different interval from the expected pitch - and different volume - so building up a "timbre"

One fun way to use this feature: if you use the measured pitches and volumes of another instrument they can combine together to play a kind of a "chord" which sounds a bit like both instruments or a hybrid of both.

Copy instr. (button) (Alt + I)

Makes a copy of the highlighted instrument for this multi instrument

Delete Instr. (button) (Alt + E)

Deletes the highlighted instrument from this multi-instrument

Highlighted Instrument for Custom Multi Instrument Voice (Ctrl + 44)

Edit the highlighted instrument in Multi Instruments Menu (Ctrl + 37)

NAME for Highlighted multi instrument (editable)

Rename custom voice - you can use Copy Voice to make a new one first...

To make a new custom voice, select any of the preset voices, and copy it using Copy Voice. Then edit it - e.g. add instruments, edit individual instruments etc - and rename it here to the desired name.

This name is used to select the instrument in the Parts window. So avoid using the same name as ones already in use e.g. in the Voices menu, Waveform player menu or the Non melodic percussion menu.

If you do enter the same name as one already in use, you get a tool tip warning - and you will need to edit it, e.g. add (2) after the name or whatever, to make it distinctive.

Keep CHORDS progression (check box)

Select this to keep the chord progression when you select a new instrument from the menu

Changes the instrument for the progression instead

Show All Parts (Ctrl + 9)

Set instruments to play for Bounce metronome parts, volumes for parts etc...

You can set up any part with an instrument, volume, and other parameters here. More parameters are available in the First Highlighted Part - Properties (Ctrl + 176) window.

This part then can be used in many places in Bounce metronome. It is for most purposes, equivalent to a Midi Out channel in other music programs.

Save all to & read all from rhythms (*.ts) (check box) (Alt + V)

Keep custom voices from all rhythms opened (check box) (Alt + K)
