Controls Common to Many Windows

General Options...

This does edge smoothing for the entire 2D Bounce window, by resamping - draws the scene larger than normal size and then reduces it to smooth out the edges.

START WITH YOUR COMPUTER (check box) (Alt + C)

Start with Windows - start Bounce metronome when Windows starts up

Quick adjustments - CLICK ON NUMBER AND DRAG up or down to change (check box)

CLICK on a number almost anywhere in Bounce Metronome, and DRAG the mouse up or down. Make sure you drag the mouse right out of the text area - and the number will adjust up or down accordingly. Keyboard shortcut Page Up or Page Down....

It's done like that to make sure that it only happens when intended, and not during normal highlighting and editing of the number.

When there are several numbers in the same text box, click on the number to change, and use CTRL + DRAG.

KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

Keyboard shortcut: to adjust the numbers from the keyboard use PAGE UP / DOWN. For several numbers in the same text box, use CTRL + PAGE UP / DOWN.

OTHER FEATURES

SHIFT + DRAG to change by 10s, ALT + DRAG by 100s, SHIFT + ALT + DRAG for 1000s. Caps lock physically held down has same effect as Alt.

You can also use this with the keyboard shortcuts.

Drag after a DECIMAL POINT to change only the part after the decimal point (again you can use it with Shift, Alt or both). Similarly for RATIOS, you can adjust the numbers separately with a click + drag on each number in the ratio.

Okay TO USE ANY FORMULA and PI, G etc in any of the number fields (check box)

Lets you use symbols like PI, E, G (for golden ratio), trig, ^ etc...

This lets you use symbols like PI, E, G (for golden ratio) and trig functions etc in any of the numerical text fields in Bounce metronome that accept user input.

You can also use ^ for power e.g. 5^3 for 5 cubed etc.

For more about the symbols you can use, see Calculator (Ctrl + 81).

Add keyboard shortcuts to window title bars (check box) (Alt + W)

Adds the shorctuts such as CONTROL + 202 to show the Options window...

To use those shorctuts you hold down the CONTROL key. Then type the number with the control key still held down. Finally release the control key and the window will appear.

You can also use

CONTROL + ENTER

type the number

ENTER

and the window will appear on the second Enter

Do EXTRA PAUSE before tune, seed etc (check box) (Alt + X)

Space out controls by (check box) (Alt + S)

Space out controls by (editable) (Alt + S)

Handwriting Recognition (Ctrl + 197)

Resizing border thicker by: (editable)

Extra thickness in pixels for resizing border around window...

The window won't be shown any thicker - but if you hover the mouse inside the border, you'll see you still get the resizing cursor, and can click and drag to resize it.

This is especially useful on high dpi screens such as the Surface Pro (defaults to 144 dpi instead of 96 dpi) - as otherwise the border can be too thin to use easily. So defaults to switched on if the dpi is larger than the standard 96 dpi.

IF BORDER OVERLAPS SMALLER CONTROL

Here - if you set the border very large, there's a risk it could completely cover a control so you can't use it. For instance you might not be able to alter the number here, or these check boxes, if the border was really thick, say if you set it to 100 pixiels or whatever.

To make sure this is not an issue, then if the border overlaps a smaller control, then only a quarter of its width or height can be used for resizing (to make sure you can continue to use the control).

For drop lists and check boxes, then the limit of a quarter of its height for resizing is used horizontally as well as vertically - to make sure you can click on the check in case of the checkbox - or the drop down arrow in case of drop list.

This is mainly relevant if you set this to some huge number.

For most cases the default is about 3 pixels (depending on your dpi).

Touch and pen: thicker by (editable)

Extra thickness in pixels for resizing border around window when you hover over it with fingers or pen...

Defaults to 10 pixels - you need a wider resizing border for fingers - and usually for stylus also.

The window won't be shown any thicker - but if you touch juste border, you'll see you still get the resizing cursor, and can click and drag to resize it.

For most cases the default of 10 pixels is fine and you probably won't even notice if the border is slightly thinner over some controls..
