Add SHADOWS (check box)

The shadows may help you to see the bounce moment more exactly

Show "shadows" for bounce for prism, cylinder, or baton only (check box)

Show "shadows" for BATON ONLY or the PRISM OR CYLINDER baton - i.e. even when there isn't any ball to cast a shadow....

The shadowsare in the shape of the number, word or bouncing ball you get when the ball is visible. You might find these shadows help you see the timing of the bounce more easily.

Show at most (editable)

TIP: if you want the balls to bounce separately each in a different section of the display, set this to 1.

Sort by beats (check box)

This sorts the bouncing balls so the part with most beats is in the front in the 3D scene. Only makes a difference to the 3D Bounce...

This is most important in the 3D bounce case because the ones in front can obscure the ones behind.

It would be possible to have much more customization than this. I could easily do it so you can set any order you like for the 3D display of the bouncing balls. Be sure to say if you need it for some reason. Will probably do that eventually at some point anyway :).

step across by (editable)

You can use Ctrl + click and drag up / down or Ctrl + Page up / down on Sphere slices to adjust all the numbers in one go.

Sea (drop list)

You can use Ctrl + click and drag up / down or Ctrl + Page up / down on Sphere slices to adjust all the numbers in one go.

3D Sea and Sky - Image or Animation (Ctrl + 235)

Choose how to show the sea, sky, and bouncing balls for the 3D Bouncing Balls window. Also whether to show the TEMPO DIAL. Shortcut to change sea or sky: DRAG an image or animation from Windows Explorer and DROP it into the sky or sea in the 3D Bouncing Balls window...

If you want a tempo dial choose one of the options with a tempo dial in the Sky As drop list.

Fade in distance (or fog) (check box)

Fades the sea in the distance to give a sense of depth - similar to the way colours look faded in the distance...

Normally things in the distance are faded, lighter in colour, and bluer in colour. To simulate that effect, you can fade the sea to pale blue, or white.

You can set what colour to fade to in Colours (Ctrl + 7) under Bouncing Ball colours. You can configure how the fading works in the More (several times) version of 3D Bounce - 3D Visuals (Ctrl + 226).

TECHY NOTE

Technically this works by applying the OpenGL fog option - either linear or exponential fog.

Field of View (editable)

LEAVE THIS AT 45 DEGREES if unsure...

When you have a narrower field of view then it's like looking at the scene through a telescope or binoculars.

The scene was designed around a field of view of 45 so if you change this you need to adjust other parameters such as the sea dimensions, the position of the first strip, the height of the bounces and so on to fit it comfortably within the window.

Sphere slices (editable)

You can use Ctrl + click and drag up / down or Ctrl + Page up / down HERE to adjust all the numbers in one go.

Stacks (editable)

You can use Ctrl + click and drag up / down or Ctrl + Page up / down on Sphere slices to adjust all the numbers in one go.

Cylinder slices (editable)

You can use Ctrl + click and drag up / down or Ctrl + Page up / down on Sphere slices to adjust all the numbers in one go.

Stacks (editable)

You can use Ctrl + click and drag up / down or Ctrl + Page up / down on Sphere slices to adjust all the numbers in one go.

Disk slices (editable)

You can use Ctrl + click and drag up / down or Ctrl + Page up / down on Sphere slices to adjust all the numbers in one go.

Stacks (editable)

You can use Ctrl + click and drag up / down or Ctrl + Page up / down on Sphere slices to adjust all the numbers in one go.

Staggered (check box)

Shows the bouncing balls for the different parts staggered in 3D (looks the same as the parallel option in 2D)...

You need to show two or more bouncing balls to see the effect, only makes a difference to visible bouncing balls.

This works by setting the "Show at most" in 3D Bounce - 3D Visuals (Ctrl + 226) or Bounce Options (Ctrl + 220) to 1.

This also adjusts the horizontal scaling and spacing in 3D Bounce - 3D Visuals (Ctrl + 226) and resets the horizontal position (if you have moved the bouncing balls in the screen then resets it).

It also sets the "For Each section, step in by" field in the More versions of Template:S226

Some tips

If you want to adjust the horizontal scale for 3D Bounce (Ctrl + 224), you can do that in Bounce Options (Ctrl + 220) Also you can adjust the gap between each section of the screen if you adjust the "Step across by " amount in the More versions of Bounce Options (Ctrl + 220) .

Also you can use Alt + right click and drag on the 3D bounce window to move the bounce visuals around in the scene

scene

Side by Side (check box)

Shows the bouncing balls for the various parts side by side, and in 3D they are also aligned with each other...

Also you can use Alt + right click and drag on the 3D bounce window to move the bounce visuals around in the scene

scene

Detailed Scene with Textured Sea (button)

More detailed version of the 3D scene for computers with 3D graphics acceleration, or SHIFT + CLICK for alternative with darker sea...

Try this and see if the animation is smooth on your computer. It is eadcy to go back to the preset using the Fast Scene button.

Use SHIFT + CLICK for Fade in distance (or fog) set to Linear - if you want the sea more distinct.

Shows batons, bouncing ball etc as 3D shapes.

Also shows the sea, with textures, and shows the detailed tempo dial. Shows the words "silenced" or "hidden"for silenced and hidden parts.

Also increases the resolution of curved shapes (disks, spheres etc) in 3D.

Fast Scene (button)

This gives smoother animations on some computers, especially netbooks with integrated graphics and no 3D acceleration...

Shows batons, bouncing ball etc as 2D shapes bouncing in 3D.

This makes a big difference for computers with integrated graphics with no 3D graphics acceleration - such as some netbooks.

Also hides the sea, switches off any textures, and shows the bare bones tempo dial. Doesn't show words "silenced" or "hidden"for silenced and hidden parts.

Also reduces the resolution of curved shapes (disks, spheres etc) in 3D.

2D shapes in 3D scene (check box)

Shows 2D shapes bouncing in the 3D scene - smoother animations on some computers...

Shows batons as triangles, balls as disks, and numbers also as 2D shapes, though bouncing in 3D

This makes a big difference for computers with integrated graphics with no 3D graphics acceleration - such as some netbooks.

For more optimisations see the Fast Scene button in 3D Bounce - 3D Visuals (Ctrl + 226)

Show from other side (check box)

Reverses LEFT and RIGHT and in 3D shows the baton from the other side

For conducting patterns, shows from conductor's point of view...

Difference between this and Mirrroring

You have a mirroring option Bounce Right to Left first in Bounce Patterns (Ctrl + 227) - which can also be labelled Bounce Anti-clockwise - or "Mirror conducting" depending on your choice for the Bounces.

The difference is that the mirroring opiton reverses LEFT and RIGHT but makes no difference to the baton.

If you have both switched on, then it is the same effect as both switched off - except for baton reversed in 3D.

So for instance, for conducting patterns, if you have Mirror conducting, and Show from conductor's point of view, both switched on - then that gives you the conductor's view on mirror conducting (e.g. when mirror conducting with left hand).

PURE WHITE (check box)

Use this if you want the bouncing balls, baton etc. to be pure white

Prism or Cylinder baton (check box)

Shows a cylinder for the bouncing balls, a prism for the bouncing Polys, and for the other options similarly - as an extruded shape

Transparent balls (check box)

You can set how transparent it is in the More version of 3D Bounce - 3D Visuals (Ctrl + 226)

BATON ONLY (hide bouncing balls) (check box)

Just the BATON (cone shaped) WITHOUT the bouncing balls, words, numbers or shapes

Baton width (editable)

Baton Width for view from other side (or conductor's point of view)...

You can set the baton width separately for normal viewing and for the view from the other side (ir conductor's point of view).

This is the width for the view from the other side.

You can swap between normal viewing and the view from the other side (or conductor's point of view) in Bounce Patterns (Ctrl + 227)

Baton width (editable)

This is the width for normal viewing.

You can swap between normal viewing and the view from the other side (or conductor's point of view) in Bounce Patterns (Ctrl + 227)

Baton or drumsticks (check box)

You can unselect this to show just the bouncing balls, or numbers etc. without the baton

3D Bounce - Image or Animation (Ctrl + 239)

Add textures to the 3D bouncing balls, batons, numbers etc - or animated textures - or change the materials or lighting

All together (check box)

Shows all the bouncing balls in a single section...

This works by setting the "Show at most" field to 16 so all the bouncing balls are in a single section

Some tips

You might also want to adjust the horizontal scale

Also you can use Alt + right click and drag on the 3D bounce window to move the bounce visuals around in the scene

All together (editable)

This splits the visual bouncing balls area into several sections with a maximum number of balls in each section....

E.,g. set this to 1 and each ball bounces in its separate area of the screen, set it to 2 and you have two in each section and so on.

Set it to 16 and all the bouncing balls bounce behind each other (or on top of each other in 2D)

All together (spin)

Increase or decrease maximum number of balls bouncing together in each section
