Some of the Other Software Metronomes Available
From Bounce Metronome
Intro
This is a list of some of the On-line metronomes and some of the other Desktop metronomes for Windows available just now, with some of the features of each.
These are alternatives to Bounce Metronome (the metronome I developed myself).
This is just a list, not a review. I haven't rated them. Listed in no particular order and I may have left out some metronomes - so let me know if you know of any others to be included.
If you want an alternative and free metronome to play odd time signatures, then the Wierd Metronome might be your best bet, it is a widely used metronome.
For a minimal metronome with bounce visuals for ipad / iphone, this one looks useful:
I don't know the author, there's no connection with me at all, but looks good from the video. It is exactly the sort of thing I hope to program first of all if / when I get a chance to do a multi-platform version of Bounce Metronome. App store link:
For flamenco metronomes, see Flamenco Metronomes
For Mac or Linux metronomes - try Metronomes for Mac. and Metronomes for Linux on Shareware Music Machine.
For mobile phone metronomes, try a google search for "mobile phone metronome". I haven't tested these. BTW intend to work on a mobile app for BM Pro but at present this is just an idea for the future.
One of the mobile phone metronomes is worth particular mention - not as a recommended metronome to get (it doesn't get good reviews) - just because it is the first metronome I know of apart from Bounce Metronome with any attempt at conducting visuals (that is apart from an old mechanical conducting metronome demonstrated in 1893 by J. Treadway Hansom). It's called Metronome 3D. For videos of it in action try search Youtube for "Metronome 3D".

These are all free and work in your web browser:

Desktop metronomes for Windows
For Mac or Linux try Metronomes for Mac. and Metronomes for Linux on Shareware Music Machine.
These are all stand alone metronomes. I've left out metronomes that are a minor feature of a larger program. But I can add those types of metronomes as well if you know of any that are especially notable.
These are some of the alternatives to Bounce Metronome (the metronome I developed myself).
I've included some interesting metronomes with the author's site no longer available, together with a third party link you can use to download the software (usually hitsquad). If you know a primary website for any of these let me know.
One that is of especial interest for Bounce Metronome Pro is this first one
Professional Metronome - Shareware
Author's site Storm Software no longer exists - WayBack Machine Archive June 2008.
Features: song editor, bar and beat counter, VST plugin, network synchronisation, skinnable, change midi instruments, bounce visuals
This is the only other metronome I know of that has a bouncing ball display with bounce under simulated gravity - so ball moves faster at the bottom of the bounce. There are many that have lights or a ball that move up and down at constant speed, but this is the only other one I know with a gravity bounce.
