source file: mills2.txt Date: Mon, 12 Aug 1996 11:14:54 -0700 Subject: Fungus/CAGE From: John Chalmers My provider was down due to the power outage and still has some port problems, so I'm a bit behind in answering my mail RE CAGE: As a former Neurospora and yeast geneticist, pot-hunter, mycophagist and ocasional imbiber, I will state that no one who likes fungi can be all bad, even as a composer. Despite a few adolescent bouts of athletes' foot before I gave up excercise, I've gotten far more out of fungus than fungus has gotten out of me. Actually, I was referring as much to Cage's influence as his music. It seemed for a while, that every experimentalist had to define his or herself with respect to John Cage. --John Received: from ns.ezh.nl [137.174.112.59] by vbv40.ezh.nl with SMTP-OpenVMS via TCP/IP; Mon, 12 Aug 1996 21:52 +0200 Received: by ns.ezh.nl; (5.65v3.2/1.3/10May95) id AA11172; Mon, 12 Aug 1996 21:52:27 +0200 Received: from eartha.mills.edu by ns (smtpxd); id XA11284 Received: from by eartha.mills.edu via SMTP (940816.SGI.8.6.9/930416.SGI) for id MAA01177; Mon, 12 Aug 1996 12:52:22 -0700 Date: Mon, 12 Aug 1996 12:52:22 -0700 Message-Id: Errors-To: madole@ella.mills.edu Reply-To: tuning@eartha.mills.edu Originator: tuning@eartha.mills.edu Sender: tuning@eartha.mills.edu
