Erlich" 19-ET and 31-ET, being meantone tunings, use standard notation, where the letters express the position on the circle of fifths mod 7, and the sharps and flats correspond to shifts of 7 fifths. The five-line staff predates 12-ET, which is only one possible meantone tuning. Here is the standard notation for 19-ET: 0 C 1 C# 2 Db 3 D 4 D# 5 Eb 6 E 7 E#/Fb 8 F 9 F# 10 Gb 11 G 12 G# 13 Ab 14 A 15 A# 16 Bb 17 B 18 B#/cb 19 c And for 31-ET: 0 C 1 Dbb (or C 1/2#) 2 C# 3 Db 4 C## (or D1/2b) 5 D 6 Ebb (or D 1/2#) 7 D# 8 Eb 9 D## (or E1/2b) 10 E 11 Fb (or E 1/2#) 12 E# (or F 1/2b) 13 F 14 Gbb (or F 1/2#) 15 F# 16 Gb 17 F## (or G 1/2b) 18 G 19 Abb (or G 1/2#) 20 G# 21 Ab 22 G## (or A 1/2b) 23 A 24 Bbb (or A 1/2#) 25 A# 26 Bb 27 A## (or B 1/2b) 28 B 29 Cb (or B 1/2#) 30 B# (or c 1/2b) 31 c SMTPOriginator: tuning@eartha.mills.edu From: lucy@ilhawaii.net Subject: Notation for 19 and 31tET proposals PostedDate: 08-08-97 03:48:28 SendTo: CN=coul1358/OU=AT/O=EZH ReplyTo: tuning@eartha.mills.edu $UpdatedBy: CN=notesrv2/OU=Server/O=EZH,CN=coul1358/OU=AT/O=EZH,CN=Manuel op de Coul/OU=AT/O=EZH RouteServers: CN=notesrv2/OU=Server/O=EZH,CN=notesrv1/OU=Server/O=EZH RouteTimes: 08-08-97 03:48:26-08-08-97 03:48:26,08-08-97 03:46:55-08-08-97 03:46:56 DeliveredDate: 08-08-97 03:46:56 Categories: $Revisions: Received: from ns.ezh.nl by notesrv2.ezh.nl (Lotus SMTP MTA v1.1 (385.6 5-6-1997)) with SMTP id C12564ED.0009EC7E; Fri, 8 Aug 1997 03:48:23 +0200 Received: by ns.ezh.nl; (5.65v3.2/1.3/10May95) id AA05841; Fri, 8 Aug 1997 03:48:28 +0200 Date: Fri, 8 Aug 1997 03:48:28 +0200 Received: from ella.mills.edu by ns (smtpxd); id XA05839 Received: (qmail 25524 invoked from network); 8 Aug 1997 01:48:09 -0000 Received: from localhost (HELO ella.mills.edu) (127.0.0.1) by localhost with SMTP; 8 Aug 1997 01:48:09 -0000 Message-Id: Errors-To: madole@mills.edu Reply-To: tuning@eartha.mills.edu Originator: tuning@eartha.mills.edu Sender: tuning@eartha.mills.edu
