Ben Neill's Green Machine is in JI and it seems to have a bit of pop appeal. Of course, he produced plenty of work before Green Machine that wouldn't be considered pop music. Green Machine came out a few years ago and while I think it's very fine album and Neill has gone on to more exposure with DJ Spooky, it doesn't seem to have crossed over. Ben Neill's next album was called Triptycal and I don't remember it having any tuning fun on it. The piece that I performed at TAGFest two weeks ago would be considered beatless ambient. The response was encouraging so I'm looking at the possibility of developing more material like that and scouting out some possible live performances in the future. But I be really suprised if my phone started ringing because someone wanted to sign me. ;) Besides....that's not why I work with ji. * . * . .
