Bob,
There shouldn't be any beats in a just 12/7 or 7/4.  The 7/6 interval 
may be too narrow for some ears...sounds rough to some.  I find a lot of 
energy in a
6-7-8 and (utonic) 1/8, 1/7, 1/6 triad.
