Title: Need help with Scripts
Post by: ehmjai on June 25, 2013, 07:45:37 PM
I'm a noob to this program. I need help programming tempo/rhythm changes so I can have a full song playback nonstop to practice to it.

Okay, I'm guessing that it's you who just sent me an email about this, if so have sent you a reply.

So anyway here it is again online, which may be useful for anyone else reading this post.

Depending on what you want to do it might be easier to use the Tempo -> Automatic Tempo and Rhythm Changes.

Try for instance the Rite of Spring extract to see how it works. You can have polyrhythms mixed in and additive rhythms as well, and can use the tempo progression to set a tempo for any of the rhythms.

It can get a bit tricky if you have loads of rhythms to know which rhythm corresponds to which of the tempi. The option to space out the numbers using tabs can help there.

Main thing it is missing is any option to change tempo gradually from one time signature to the next. Just plays each one for a steady tempo, and the gradual tempo changes are a separate option. So at present would use a script for that probably, or if you want to change instruments to play, or other parameters from one time signature to the next in the sequence.

There is an option to make the whole thing into a script - just click a button to do that. Which then could help with understanding how the scripts work.

Does this help? Any more questions?

I don't have a tutorial video about it yet, but I hope to put up some more tutorial videos soon, and can do something about this.

Thanks,

Robert
