Sorry, I can't port it to the Mac for techy reasons. (details: it is written in low level C and uses Windows API calls extensively, and to port it ot the Mac it would need to be written in a platform independent language or rewritten from scratch.)

You might be able to run it using a virtual machine like Parallels desktop. But so far not had any reports of anyone doing this successfully, so I don't know if it is possible or whether it needs any special configuring to work. If you try that you are on your own and probably best if a bit techy in case you run into any issues using it on a Mac.

If anyone does try it out on a Mac with a virtual machine then I will do what I can to fix any bugs you report e.g. by adding extra diagnostics etc. as needed.

Sorry about that.

Robert

Sorry, no. I don't know of any other metronomes with conductor style visuals at all - and the only other one I know of with a Gravity style bounce seems to be no longer maintained, and is also for Windows.

However I can point you in the direction of other metronomes.

Here are some on-line metronomes:

http://bouncemetronome.com/compare-metronomes.htm#online

most of which will work on any computer with a web browser.

And for metronomes for the Mac, I have no experience of them at all, but here is a list from Shareware Music Machine:

http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/mac/METRONOMES/

- perhaps you will find something of interest there depending on what you need?

I wish I could provide a version of Bounce Metronome Pro for the Mac...

Do feel free to post back here to this thread if you find a good metronome of special interest for Mac users.

Thanks,

Robert

Yes I understand. Lots of musicians use the Mac.

I've updated the section on the web site about the Mac.

http://bouncemetronome.com/for_windows.htm#mac_linux

Discussed recently here:

http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?p=8628671

Though I can't port Bouonce Metronome to the Mac, there are things I can do as you'll see in that thread.

One idea is to do a lightweight version intended for mobile devices such as phones, not the full BM Pro but with most of its rhythm capabilities.

No immediate plans to do that as I havne't got the time right now and it would take some months to get first version done probably as I would need to learn how to write the cross-platform code.

But would be a nice thing to do and with the amount of interest I've had for BM Pro on Windows and the number of questions I've had about porting it to the Mac and use on mobile devices, I may well revisit this and give it a go when I have a bit more time, maybe next spring, see how it goes.

Meanwhile, best bet is to buy a cheap Windows pc, run it on your Windows partition with BootCamp, or it might possibly work to use the virtual machines, don't know about that.
