Title: Triplets that last for two beats in 4/4 time
Post by: 911dave on February 19, 2011, 09:38:50 AM
Here is my musical challenge.   I just can't seem play a triplet that counts for two beats in when I am playing 4-4 time.  It amounts to playing on an off-beat (2/3 of a beat length 3 times).

I am a very visual person.  Has anybody a suggestion for display settings that would help me along?  I tried the splitting the beat into three subdivisions but the resulting count to 12 is too messy.

Yes, hope this helps:

4/4 with triplet for first half of the measure (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hinBedk6SJs#ws)

Does this answer your challenge?

To get this rhythm - In the Pro metronome, I started with 4/4 beating eighth notes. Then added an extra 6/4 rhythm in Combine Rhythms (Ctrl + 217), set to play All at once (polyrhythms).

Then used the left click on a beat to skip beats in the first half of the measure for the eighth notes and in the second half of the measure for the triplet quarter notes to get the desired rhythm.
