Melodic Instruments - Keyboard users - Alt a second time to get to menu...
Select an instrument from the menu or enter its name into the text box. Your selection is used for the currently highlighted part in the Parts (Ctrl + 9)) window.
To select the instrument into all the parts in the Parts window, use the Select for all parts check box .
How show this window
Instruments in the Instr. menu in the main window, or Instr. in the Parts window menu.
Shortcut keys: Ctrl + 8 or Ctrl + N
Special note for blind and partially sighted keyboard users
The Instruments menu actually appears in a new separate window which the user can move around and place where they like on the screen. So it is like a floating menu - but permanently available until user closes it.
So, to get to it you need to use the Alt key a second time. This also means you can get to this window using Ctrl + tab once it is shown, and you can close it like any other window.
For non melodic percussion instruments use Non Melodic Percussion (Ctrl + 21).
For the wave shape instruments use Wave Shape Player Instruments (Ctrl + 196).
Or type name - either melodic or non melodic - recognises fragmentary names
Type instrument name to select it for highlighted part(s) in Parts window...
You can enter fragmentary names and it doesn't need to be the first word in the instrument name, for instance Harp for Orchestral Harp or even the likes of ngo for Tango Accordian
The search for the instrument will always turn up a unique instrument - the best match, or the first found.
It favours complete words first, then letter sequences that begin words, then letter sequences anywhere in the word. Also favours the first word in the name.
Select for all parts
When this is selected, the instrument gets selected in all the parts.
Set which instruments play in the Tune Smithy parts, and the volumes for parts etc...
You can set up any part with an instrument, volume, controllers and other parameters here. You can also set a different tuning for each part too using the Scales for Parts window.
This part then can be used in many places in Tune Smithy using the part number, and is the equivalent of a Midi Out channel in FTS. You can't use Midi channels directly as the notes for a single part often have to be relayed to many different channels for retuning purposes.
