Doesn't look that odd in sun centric coordinates.

But in Earth centred coordinates this is what you see:

Some asteroids become temporary moons of the Earth and then go away again. We probably have several of those orbiting Earth right now, but too tiny for us to spot. Earth Usually Has Second Tiny, Temporary Moon
