I'd enjoy being in space if
- I get there in a nice big comfortable spaceship - no way could I spend several days in a small space like the Apollo astronauts. Even the amount of space you get in a long haul aircraft would be difficult if you have to spend several days flying. I get a bit claustrophobic in small spaces also. If you are the sort of person who tries to avoid getting into lifts when they are crowded, unless they have windows (rare) - then you are probably not best suited for a spaceflight with current technology :).
- It would need to be safe. I enjoy reading about spaceflight adventures. But - I'm not the sort of person who would take up some sport such as base jumping with a 1 in 100 chance of death. It will probably be a while before spaceships are so reliable that you can say for sure that the chance of a crash is less than 1 in 100. They are taking a risk every time they go up, even in the Soyuz TMA. The most reliable rocket we have - but it's not as if they have had thousands, even millions and billions of flights, as is the case for airplanes.
- Must be possible to get back to Earth. No way would I go on a one way trip, even if I knew I could be resupplied from Earth for the rest of my life.
- It must be consistent with science exploration. I would not want to go anywhere if it interferes with the scientific study and exploration of space. I'd love to actually be involved in the science also, though not too likely as a mathematician.
Earth is just too nice a place for humans. I'd enjoy the weightless experience, seeing new landscapes and so on. It would be fun and exciting. But I'm not natural astronaut material :). And enjoy living on Earth too much :).
But I'll be there to cheer on the humans who do explore in space. It was great to watch the Apollo landings on the Moon so long ago, just the childhood excitement of seeing humans doing such things - so long as it is consistent with science exploration. and planetary protection.
I also find it really interesting to look at the photos taken by our robots in the solar system. In the future these will surely become more detailed and immersive, and we'll be able to put on virtual reality goggles and walk over the surface of the Moon, Mars, Pluto and so on in our own living rooms.
