How do I purchase the program - I need help with the order form?
To purchase, go to Buy now - Secure order, Choose the order type, then click Order Now and Continue. The order gets processed when you fill in your details and click the Place your Order button on the third page.
What you purchase is the unlock key. It gets sent to you as soon as the order is completed. You then use it to unlock the program you get from the download page.
What is Shareware?
You download a free trial program, and try it out before the purchase. It's rather like test driving a car before you buy it. You can make sure that it is suitable for your purposes and compare it with other products, before you buy it. The details of how this is done varies from program to program.
With Activity Timer, you can take the program for a 30 day test drive which unlocks all the features for thirty days so that you can decide whether you want to purchase the program or not. During this period you can use the program exactly as you will be able to use it when you purchase it.
This system helps both the authors and the users. You get to try the program out first before you buy it. The authors don't need to pay extra costs for packaging and distribution, and can focus efforts entirely on the programming and support for users. The system is often used for programs nowadays, because of its many advantages.
After the test drive is over, if you haven't bought it yet, then you can continue to use a feature limited version of the program for free.
In the case of activity timer, then you can continue to use the program as a freeware user after the trial period ends, and it will continue to track project times. You need to purchase it to remove the splash screen that shows up when the program starts up - or if you want to show the Pie or bar charts or to use the option to randomise the skin each time the program starts - i.e. "eye candy".
You also need to purchase it for some of the more advanced features such as the option to show the hours worked on a weekly basis, to associate window titles with projects.
The test drive wasn't long enough - can I get another one?
Yes indeed. You can request another test drive at any time if you need to evaluate a new feature or re-evaluate the program.
You also automatically get a new test drive when the program version number gets updated so that you can try new features introduced with the new version.
What are the different order types of Activity Timer available?
$16 Individual user and Home Use. Purchase all of Robert Inventor's mini utilities (currently only Activity Timer) - for home or personal use only.
You and any of your household are free to use the program on any of your machines. You can also use it on other people's machines when traveling - just be sure to remove your unlock key when you go (which you can do from Help | Unlock) or uninstall the program when you go.
$50 Commercial license, You need this to purchase the mini utilities for use by an organisation. It gives you a license for up to 10 computers belonging to your organisation. Alternatively, you can use the license for any number of computers for up to 10 users if it is the sort of situation where each user can use several computers. For more users or computers, the prices are: $100 for 50 users, $150 for 100 users, $200 for 200 users and then $200 for every additional 200 users.
Home users don't need a commercial license.
You also don't need a commercial license for a one person type organisation, e.g. if you are a sole trader. Nor do you need a commercial license if it is only needed for one computer or will only be used by one person in an organisation.
What is the price system for a commercial license with more than 10 computers (or users)?
If your organisation needs more than 10 computers (or users), you can buy any combination of licenses that adds up to the desired number of computers (or users). So for instance if you want a license for 300 computers, buy the license for 200 computers and the one for 100 users.
You can use your license either by the number of computers or by the number of users, as you prefer.
If it is by user, each user can use it on any number of computers. Also when traveling they can use it on any computer they have for their own use wherever they go. If the license is by computer, then each licensed computer can be used by any number of users.
Your license can be for a single department within a larger company or a single branch of a company. So, if your department has no more than 10 members who will use the utilities, then you only need to buy the 10 user license, even if your organisation has thousands of employees.
The price currently is:
$50 for up to 10 users (or 10 computers for any number of users)
$100 for up to 50 users (or 50 computers)
$150 for up to 100 users (or 100 computers)
$200 for up to 200 users (or 200 computers)
Then it is $200 for every additional 200 users (or if you prefer, computers), so $1 per user.
There are further price reductions if the number of users is larger than that - currently $800 for 1000 users.

Is it a secure order?
Yes it is.
The order is processed by my agents RegNow who have specialised in providing this service for shareware authors.

I don't see your credit card details myself, I just get notification that you have bought FTS, and the details of the order type etc. RegNow do all the credit card process, and they also make the unlock key for you automatically - expect to receive it immediately, as soon as they receive payment.
You are welcome to try the process out first - as a test to see how it works - up to the page where you need to enter your credit card details. If you have any questions at all about the order process be sure to ask RegNow or me :-). support@tunesmithy.co.uk .
Also be sure to contact me if the order doesn't go through for any reason - my experience has been that RegNow are swift at resolving any questions or problems.
How do I unlock the program?
You will receive an unlock key code instantly when you complete the order. This is valid for all future releases of Activity Timer. The unlock key will come with instructions on how to use it. Basically you enter it into the unlock window from Help | Unlock. There is no need to re-download the program to unlock it.
Can I purchase using PayPal?
Yes you can.
If you pay in US dollars, there is an option to use PayPal on the RegNow order page. You will get sent the unlock key right away - as soon as they receive your payment. Choose PayPal as the order method when you go to Order Now on the RegNow page.
If you pay in other currencies or if for some reason you want to pay me directly, use the form below. There may be delays for up to several days, and on occasion a week or longer before I process the order.

Are there alternatives to buying on-line?
Yes, you can also pay by mail, fax, wire, and PO. You can also pay by phone. If you live in the UK you can also pay me directly in UK pounds.
Of course, if you pay by mail, then you only receive the unlock key after RegNow receive your payment.

Payment by mail, fax, wire, and PO.
To use any of these methods, go to the RegNow order page, and after you choose "order now", choose how you wish to pay from the Payment Method drop list. You then get instructions about how to complete the payment, usually along with an order id (e.g. you need to write the order id on your cheque if paying by post).
Some of these alternative methods incur a handling charge of the order of two or three dollars.

Can I use my unlock key on other computers?
Yes - you can use it on other computers, for your own use only, for instance when you travel or visit friends and relatives.
When finished - you need to remove the unlock key (from Help | Show Unlock Code | Delete Unlock Key) or uninstall the program + its unlock key when you leave
If you do leave your unlock key on a computer then let me know and I will mark it as missing for future uploads of the program and issue another one.
The copy is for your use only. None of my programs are hardware locked. This means that you can use your copy on any computer without needing to contact me first.

Does the unlock key apply for all future versions of Activity Timer?
Yes it does. Also for all future additions to the mini utilities suite
Are there any discounts available?
Yes, there's an educational discount of 50%. There's a similar discount for those who are unemployed or with a very low income of 75%.
If you have a very low income or come from a country with low incomes, other licensing methods can also be arranged.
To get the discounts, you need to contact support@tunesmithy.co.uk to ask for a voucher. I will reply as promptly as I can, but am sometimes off-line so there may be a delay of some days or maybe even a week or so in replying to your application at some times of the year.
Does the program come with printed documentation?
No there is no printed documentation.
What you purchase is the unlock key. Activity Timer comes with help documentation in web page format, and context sensitive help for the controls. You get to it from the program via the help menu and F1 and Shift + F1 help. If anything isn't covered in the help then for friendly assistance, contact: support@robertinventor.com
Can I get it on CD?
No, sorry, not at present. You can download the installer and copy it onto a CD and use that to install it on other machines.
The evaluation version is freely distributable so you can also provide it on CD to others. You can also charge reasonable fee for just the copying and CD making, while making clear that it is freely available for download if they prefer.
I bought the program in error, what should I do?
If you purchase the program in error, e.g. via a "Buy Now" button on one of the many affiliate web sites selling my programs, then it is normally possible to arrange a refund through my agent (rather like buying something in error in a shop).

I will then mark the unlock key you got as invalid which will mean it no longer work with future downloads of the program, and you will need to purchase it again if you decide to buy it later on.
